Your privacy, in plain words

Sitcomdle is a daily sitcom character guessing game and character guide library operated by KGS Ventures LLC. In this policy, “Sitcomdle,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to KGS Ventures LLC and this website.

• Game information on your device. Your guesses, daily progress, streak, and statistics are stored in your browser's local storage. You do not need an account to play, and we never ask for your name.
• Anonymous gameplay analytics. To learn how the game is played, we keep our own gameplay records in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). A record includes the game mode (daily or practice), the puzzle date, how many guesses were made, whether the round was won, lost, or left unfinished, time spent actively playing, which share buttons were used, broad device and browser categories, and the referring website's domain only. We also record which characters were guessed, as picked from the game's fixed list, so we can see which puzzles are hardest. A random identifier saved in your browser lets us estimate new and returning players; it is stored only as a one-way hash and does not identify you. These records never contain free text you type, your email address, or your IP address.
• Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are viewed, game events, approximate location, and similar technical information about visits. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes this information under Google's own policies.
• Security records. To protect the site from abuse, we briefly keep rate-limit counters keyed to a scrambled (hashed) form of a network address. They are not linked to gameplay records and expire within hours.
• Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

We use information to run and improve the game and the character guides, remember your progress on your device, understand how the site is used, prevent misuse, reply to messages, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.

The site does not show ads today. We may add advertising in the future to help cover the cost of running it. If we do, advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and we will update this policy before that happens to name the partners and explain your choices, including any consent or opt-out tools required where you live.

• If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, our first-party gameplay analytics are turned off for you.
• You can clear local storage and cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so resets your progress and streak on this site, and our analytics will then treat your browser as a new player.
• You can learn more about Google's practices in the Google Privacy Policy and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.

Game information stays in your browser until you clear it. Our gameplay records are scheduled for deletion 400 days after the round started, and an anonymous browser identifier is removed 400 days after its last recorded play. Security counters expire within hours. We keep emails only as long as reasonably needed to answer them, unless the law requires longer. Google follows its own retention settings for Google Analytics.

Sitcomdle is made for a general audience, including families, and does not ask anyone for personal information to play. The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date above, and for meaningful changes such as adding advertising we will describe them here before they take effect.
