I Love Lucy Characters

I Love Lucy follows Lucy Ricardo, a New York housewife with big dreams of performing, and her husband Ricky, a Cuban bandleader who would very much like her to stay out of his act. Their landlords and best friends, Fred and Ethel Mertz, get pulled into nearly every plan, usually against their better judgment.

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, married in real life, built the show through their own company, Desilu, and filmed it with several cameras in front of a live audience. That approach became the standard way to make a sitcom for decades.

Episodes like the chocolate factory conveyor belt and Lucy's tongue-twisting vitamin tonic commercial are still some of the most replayed moments in television history.
