- Ray Barone
Ray Barone is a sportswriter on Long Island with a loving wife, Debra, three kids, and parents who live across the street and walk in whenever they like. His mother Marie smothers him with affection and cooking, his father Frank grumbles at everything, and his older brother Robert, a police officer, cannot hide his jealousy that everybody loves Raymond.
Built around Ray Romano's stand-up comedy, the show finds its laughs in ordinary family friction: holidays, in-laws, and arguments that start over nothing and escalate to everything.
It ran for nine seasons on CBS and won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series twice, along with acting Emmys for Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts, and Brad Garrett.
