Seinfeld, created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, follows a stand-up comedian named Jerry and his three closest friends as they navigate the small irritations of life in Manhattan. George Costanza is Jerry's neurotic best friend, Elaine Benes is his ex-girlfriend turned close pal, and Cosmo Kramer is the neighbor who bursts through the door without knocking.
The writers famously avoided hugs and life lessons. Instead they wove separate storylines together into elaborate payoffs, and filled the city with unforgettable side characters: Newman the mail carrier, George's bickering parents Frank and Estelle, Elaine's boss J. Peterman, her on-and-off boyfriend Puddy, and a very strict soup vendor.
Seinfeld ran for nine seasons on NBC, and phrases from the show, from "yada yada" to Festivus, are now part of everyday speech.
