Ted Lasso Characters
Ted Lasso follows an American football coach hired to manage a struggling English soccer club.
Ted Lasso is a relentlessly optimistic American college football coach who is hired to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League club, despite knowing almost nothing about soccer. The club's new owner, Rebecca Welton, has her own reasons for the hire.
Ted's assistant Coach Beard, aging team captain Roy Kent, cocky star striker Jamie Tartt, kit man Nate Shelley, and the club's kind director of football operations, Leslie Higgins, all find themselves changed by Ted's biscuits and belief. Keeley Jones, a model turned marketing whiz, becomes one of the club's best assets.
The character first appeared in NBC Sports promos in 2013. The series premiered on Apple TV+ in 2020 and won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series in each of its first two seasons.
