Happy Days is a nostalgic look at teenage life in Milwaukee in the 1950s and early '60s. Ron Howard plays Richie Cunningham, a decent, slightly naive kid, alongside his patient father Howard, his warm mother Marion, and a crowd of friends who gather at Arnold's drive-in.
The show's breakout star was Arthur Fonzarelli, the leather-jacketed mechanic everyone calls Fonzie. Henry Winkler started as a supporting player, and the Fonz soon became one of the most famous characters on television.
Happy Days ran for eleven seasons on ABC and launched spinoffs including Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy. It also gave the language the phrase "jumping the shark."
