Malcolm in the Middle Characters
Malcolm in the Middle follows a gifted kid stuck in the middle of a loud, broke, loving family.
Malcolm is a genius by test score and a regular kid by temperament, stuck in the middle of a family of boys who are always in trouble. He talks straight to the camera to explain his latest disaster, a trick that set the show apart from the sitcoms around it.
His mother Lois runs the house with a fearsome temper and an eye for every lie, while his father Hal is affectionate, excitable, and easily distracted. His brothers are Francis, the eldest, sent away to military school, the tough and scheming Reese, and the strange and gifted Dewey.
Filmed in a single-camera style with no laugh track, Malcolm in the Middle ran for seven seasons on FOX. It also gave Bryan Cranston one of his best-known roles before Breaking Bad.
